Denver Tree Crews Brace for Heavy Wet Snow on Early-Leafed Trees

Source: 9News Added: May 6, 2026

A spring snowstorm hitting the Denver metro is colliding with an unusually early bloom, leaving leafed-out trees vulnerable to heavy, wet snow and freezing temps. Mark Starcevic of Wheat Ridge-based Limb Walkers said his crews spent Monday inspecting overgrown limbs hanging over homes, cars, and power lines. The company is staffing about a dozen workers, starting at 5 a.m., with an in-house crane for 24/7 emergency response.

Storms like this are bread and butter for tree crews who plan ahead. Get your on-call schedule set, fuel and saws ready, crane and bucket truck staged, and make sure your answering line is actually answering. Pre-storm property walk-throughs are also a smart upsell — homeowners pay for proactive limb removal when they see a forecast they don't like. And remind customers to stay away from loaded limbs; that's both a safety message and a lead generator.
Early bloom plus late snow equals broken limbs, downed lines, and a flood of emergency calls. Crews that are staged, rested, and reachable will capture the work — those that aren't will lose it to competitors.
